It is recommended to change the air filteron a vehicle every 10k miles. In order to keep your M3 running at peak performance, it is critical to maintain a fresh air filter. There are also several after-market air filters that increase your M3′s performance. Follow the steps below to successfully change your air filter.
Step 1
Locate the air box. There are 8 Torx 20 screws that hold it in place. Use your Torx 20 screwdriver to loosen the screws.
Step 2
Remove the cover by pulling up and to the right.
Step 3
Loosen the clamp around the rubber intake. The filter is now ready to be removed.
Step 4
Just pull the filter up (it may require a little force).
Step 5
Tighten the clamp until its snug.
Step 6
Begin to slide in the new air filter. It will probably require a little push to get it in there. After the filter is in, make sure that everything is fitted properly.
Step 7
Put the cover back on and screw in the screws.
